M. Chapoutier Les Meysonniers Rouge

AOP Crozes-Hermitage, Rhône

Tasting Notes

'Les Meysonniers' is a wine with fleshy tannins and loads of floral and black fruit notes, as well as elegance.

Pairs beautifully with pizza, pasta, casseroles and hearty stews.

Our Crozes-Hermitage is vinified traditionally with punching down and pumping over taking place in concrete tanks. This wine is made from organically grown grapes. The exclusion of all chemical products (in particular herbicides), and the ploughing of the vineyards, enables the vine to plunge its root system deep down into the heart of the soil. Deeper root systems make the vine’s physiological behavior more even and provide better resistance to sudden changes in temperature.

Grapes: 100% Syrah
Alcohol by Volume: 13%

"The 2020 Crozes Hermitage les Meysonniers feature gorgeous blueberries and florals on the nose, while the palate is medium to full-bodied and silky textured. It does appear to lack a bit of the richness shown by the 2019, with the flavors falling away quickly on the finish."

"Lots of black cherry, but also some eucalyptus on the nose of this youthful Crozes-Hermitage. Sleek and crisp with moderate tannins and a cranberry type of acidity that’s pronounced at the finish. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Maybe this will show better after another year of bottle age? Drink or hold."

"Boasts beautifully pure fruit, with black and red berry flavors layered with sweet licorice, giving way to warm earth and wet stone. Reveals white pepper, olive tapenade, dried thyme and sanguine undertones, which build toward the persistent finish. Drink now through 2030. 45 cases imported"

"From a difficult vintage for the region due to hail, the 2019 Crozes-Hermitage Les Meysonniers is nevertheless a terrific success and has a pretty, elegant, seamless style as well as terrific purity in its darker fruits as well notes of pepper, violets, and sappy flowers"

"An exceptional vintage for this wine, the 2019 Crozes Hermitage les Meysonniers showcases violets, cassis and crushed stone aromas on its complex, nuanced nose. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it's silky and seductive, with a long, exquisitely balanced finish. Drink Date: 2022-2028.” "
