“We have wondered why the wines of Dutton Goldfield were so rarely mentioned by the champions of balance and temperate alcohol during the cultural Chardonnay wars of the last several years for they are, more often than not, serious, decidedly polished wines of sophistication and depth that are not driven by high ripeness and lavish oak. This quietly complex effort adheres to the winery model, and, while not an especially bold wine, it is quite deep with an insistent, very precise fruity voice. It is a carefully made Chardonnay that reminds that balance and richness are not antithetical, and it will drink effortlessly with a wide range of foods.”

It's super fresh, light and agile, with notes of flowers, a vibrant palate and delicious flavors. It's really refreshing and should work wonderfully with food. Truly delicious. I think this should develop nicely for a few years in bottle. It's a lot more complex and serious than your average rosé. 40,000 bottles produced.”

The oak in unnoticeable, nicely folded into the wine, and the palate is ultra-sleek, polished and elegant, with very fine tannins, nice acidity, and a subtle minerality providing freshness and length. The balsamic, herbal character grows in the glass, where the wine feels fresher and fresher. This is a great vintage for this bottling. 48,000 bottles produced.”

Suave, fine-grained wine with moderate depth but a lovely restrained sweetness and firm acidity; as much red fruits as black. Finishes with broad, ripe tannins that dust the palate and teeth. Doesn't show quite the palate presence or length for 90 points but nicely structured for drinking over the next several years.”

Very linear and vibrant on the palate with tightly-wound tannins and very fresh acidity that remains in balance all the way to the long finish. The freshness is really what leaves the final impression. Cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, malbec and petit verdot. Try after 2021.”
