Villa Sandi Owner Names Folio Fine Wine Partners as National Importer

Thursday May 30, 2019 – The Moretti Polegato family, owners of Villa Sandi in the Valdobiaddane region of Veneto, have acquired the Borgo Conventi winery in the Collio area. The purchase includes the winery and 30 hectares of vineyard located in the Collio Gorizia and Isonzo DOC areas, and the portfolio will be imported by Folio Fine Wine Partners effective June 1, 2019.

Of the acquisition, owner Giancarlo Moretti Polegato commented:

“We are thrilled to strengthen our relationship with Folio Fine Wine Partners. Borgo Conventi is a winery with a deep identity in one of the most prestigious production areas in northern Italy. It has been managed with passion and expertise by the Folonari family and it’s an honor for us to add this prestigious Estate to our group.”

Folio Founder and Coach, Michael Mondavi echoed the sentiment:

“Borgo Conventi is a welcome addition to our portfolio and continues our 12-year relationship with the Moretti Polegato family and our ethos to work with families we like and respect. Together with Villa Sandi, these are wines that we are proud to represent and look forward to sharing with our family, friends and trade customers.

The Estate will remain under independent management for grape growing and winemaking, while Villa Sandi will distribute the wines in Italy and worldwide. The US portfolio will include Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon, and Friulano produced under the “Linea Collio” range, and all wines will retail for $18.99 at fine wine retail stores nationally.

About Borgo Conventi: https://www.borgoconventi.it/en/

Founded in 1975, Borgo Conventi owes its name to an ancient legend of Farra d’Isonzo: historical documents state that a landowner, Count Strassoldo, known as “il Rizzardo”, had donated a piece of land to a certain friar Basilio Pica. On this ground the Dominican fathers would build what is considered the first of a series of monasteries in the province of Farra d’Isonzo. Hence the name “Borgo Conventi”.
