ITALY’S AUTHORITY ON FOOD AND WINE RELEASES 35th EDITION OF ANNUAL VINI D’ITALIA WINE GUIDE

Gambero Rosso Reviews More Than 2,600 Producers to Select the Very Best Italian Wines for the 2022 Edition of Vini D’Italia

ROME, Italy (October 26, 2021) – Italian media company Gambero Rosso has announced the highly anticipated release of the 2022 Vini D’Italia. The 35th edition of the annual guide will be available on December 31, 2021. The Vini D’Italia guide is considered to be the ultimate authority of the best Italian wines. The guide, produced in English for U.S. and Canadian enthusiasts, is available for pre-order at amazon.com and will be available for sale during Gambero Rosso’s 2022 invitation-only U.S tour.

This year’s edition features a curated list of 2,634 producers selected by more than 60 tasters who traveled throughout the country tasting some 25,000 wines collectively. Wines are evaluated using Gambero Rosso’s bicchieri rating–or glass ranking–with the Tre Bicchieri (three glasses) rating reserved for just the top one percent of wines from that vintage. 1,982 wines were given bicchieri designations and 476 wines have been awarded the coveted Tre Bicchieri recognition.

The exhaustive research for the 2022 Vini D’Italia guide was led by the guide’s Editor-In-Chief, Marco Sabellico. Considered the most authoritative guide to Italian wines, it gives readers essential information about each winery, including their most important labels as well as what the wines retail for at enotecas throughout Italy. “We have analyzed and chronicled the evolution and growth of Italian oenology for 35 years alongside Italian wineries,” said president of Gambero Rosso, Paolo Cuccia. “In light of the past year, we are extremely proud of the increase in quality that we have found in the labels that are added to the guide.”

Additionally, Gambero Rosso designated 12 Special Awards:
● Red Of The Year: 2016 Argiano, Brunello Di Montalcino V. Del Suolo
● White Of The Year: 2018 Livio Felluga, Rosazzo Terre Alte
Bubbles Of The Year: 2020 Villa Sandi, Cartizze Brut La Rivetta
