Avant-Garde Bibi Graetz Joins Portfolio

Napa, CA—Friday January 5, 2018 — Folio Fine Wine Partners is proud to announce Tuscan producer Bibi Graetz will join the national importer, effective immediately. Graetz’s portfolio includes wines produced under the Testamatta, Colore, Casamatta, Bugia, Soffocone di Vincigliata and Bollamatta labels. The agreement expands Folio’s presence in the Italian category and capitalizes on the importer’s vast experience and success in the important Tuscan category.

Considered by many as an avant-garde producer, Graetz is best known for his Testamatta rosso a 100% Sangiovese blended from old vineyards he acquired around Tuscany and newer vines from his property in Fiesole, Florence. An arts graduate of Academia dell’Arte in Firenze, Graetz began making wine in the late 1990s after facing the decision to either allow old contracts from vineyard surrounding his home at the Castello de Vincigliata to expire or make use of them. He then set about producing wines exclusively made from traditional varieties of Sangiovese, Colorino and Canaiolo.

In 2002 Graetz expanded his focus to producing white wines on Giglio, an island located off the Tuscan coast utilizing the indigenous varieties of Ansonica and Vermentino. These wines have been made in the traditional, artisanal way, developing distinctive character – and also a following – with some of the fruit fermented on skins for extended time. Today, Graetz farms a total of 80 hectares of owned and leased vineyards.

With 11 wines in the portfolio, the wines range in retail price from Casamatta Rosso and Bianco (SRP $15), Soffocone di Vincigliata ($49) and Testamatta ($99) and Colore ($600) produced only in exceptional years. Wines are available nationally through fine wine restaurants and retail outlets across the US.
