Irene Ubaldo

Senior Accountant

Born and raised in Manila, I graduated from the University of Santo Tomas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. My journey started in Hawaii after graduation where I spent a few years enjoying the nice beaches and experiencing the laid-back lifestyle. When I got married, Alex and I left Honolulu and decided to move to California to seek out better career opportunities.

My first job in California was working for Franklin Templeton Investments where my interest in stocks and bonds started. I moved on after a couple of years to work for Wells Fargo Bank and continued my career in the financial investment industry. After years in the financial industry, found a new career in the biotech industry as the Accounting Manager for Santen Pharmaceutical overseeing the accounting operations. My biotech industry experience continued after leaving Santen to work as the Corporate Accounting Manager for Raptor Pharmaceuticals for a short while until it got acquired by Horizon Pharma. Then I moved on to BioMarin Pharmaceutical as the Accounting Manager partnering with the technical operations managers, supporting them with accounting and budgeting tasks.

After spending 13 years in the world of pharma, I’ve finally traded long commutes and high-rise buildings for the scenic vineyard views in 2020 when I worked for Bouchaine Vineyards, my first exposure to the wine industry.

I’m excited to join Folio and continue to expand my experience and knowledge in the fascinating wine industry. It’s impressive that Folio offers the finest quality wines from exclusively family-owned wineries all over the world.

On the weekends, I love being outside, tending to my garden and going on walks or bike rides with Alex along the Napa River Bay Trail. You can also find me in the kitchen, experimenting with new food recipes and delicious wine pairings. My three kids – Angeline, Adrienne and Ariel love to taste test!
