2020 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Asili Riserva
Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2025
“The 2020 Barbaresco Asili Riserva is a sensual beauty. Dark and expansive on the palate, with gorgeous resonance, the 2020 is seriously impressive. Wild cherry, lavender, cedar, new leather and spice build effortlessly in the glass as the 2020 works its way through the mid-palate and into its beautifully reverberating finish. The 2020 is quite simply one of the very finest Red Labels in some time.”

2022 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Asili
Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck, May 2025
“The team will not produce a 2022 Riserva release, and the 2022 Barbaresco Asili will be only release from Asili. From this cru with sandier soils, it was aged for 20 months in large barrels. In the glass, it boasts a jewel-toned ruby color and is fresh and ripe with aromas of pure raspberries, wild strawberries, rocky earth, and pressed roses. The palate is fruity and appealing, with refreshing lift, well-defined tannins, even acidity, and a kiss of stone fruit and mouthwatering salinity on the finish. It has just a hint of warmth, but it’s very well-balanced and joyful, making it a pretty vintage of this wine. Drink 2026-2050.”

2022 Donnafugata Ben Ryé
Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck, October 2025
“A blend of both fresh grapes and dried passito Zibibbo grapes is used to make this singular expression of sweet wine from Pantelleria. A golden/orange color, the 2022 Ben Ryé (an Arabic term meaning “Son of the Wind”) boasts outstanding complex notes of orange marmalade, toasted spice, candied grapefruit, smoky earth, and sea spray. The palate is medium to full, with savory notes and hints of nuttiness, while remaining fresh and pure, with a long finish and lasting glycerol-richness.”

2022 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Asili
James Suckling, James Suckling, January 2025
“This shows a lovely depth of berries, chocolate and cedar. Medium-bodied, racy and pretty. A little timid now, but should turn out like the 2020 with a little more structure. Needs three or four years of bottle age.”

2020 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Asili Riserva
Michaela Morris, Decanter, March 2025
“Bottled in 2022, the Asili Riserva slowly divulges plum blossoms, cherry, crushed allspice and a touch of incense. The palate is effortlessly balanced with the silkiest mouthfeel and extraordinary freshness. I love the dark earthiness that emerges with a faint touch of tar. The tannins are tightly knit, demonstrating an elegance that will stand the test of time. Like several of her peers, Bruna Giacosa compares 2020 to 2000, describing the pair as more elegant than the structured vintages of 2021 and 2001 which have their own resemblance. She voices her preference for the former duo.”

2022 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Asili
Michaela Morris, Decanter, March 2025
“As transparent as it is intense, the nose presents dark cherry and raspberry entwined with mint, lilac and mace. The palate amplifies these perfumes and brings in nuances of truffle and citrus zest. Chalky tannins are refined, and scintillating acidity surges between the layers giving a satisfying crunch on the lingering finish. Harvested on 4 October, the estate’s Asili rises above the challenges of 2022 demonstrating, above all, breed of site and skill of winemaking. Bruna Giacosa confirms that she will not produce any Riserva in 2022, saying that while the vintage resembles 2015 somewhat, it doesn’t have the same ageing potential.”

2022 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Asili
Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, January 2025
“The Bruno Giacosa 2022 Barbaresco Asili is hitting the market now. It was bottled on the 15th of July, 2024. This elegant wine shows the finely tuned and nuanced essence of Asili with its fine soils. It opens to a bright ruby color and delivers chalky tannins that retain their tension and grippy feel. On the close, you get hints of violets and blue flower. This is a very terroir-driven wine, but it needs more time in bottle to fully express itself. There will be a red label, or Riserva, made in 2020 to be released later this year (that I have reviewed here). A 2021 Riserva will be released in 2026. If Bruna Giacosa (daughter of the late Bruno Giacosa) makes a red label, the white label is not produced.”

2022 Donnafugata Ben Ryé
Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2024
“100% Zibibbo from the island of Pantelleria in southwest Sicily. Bright, deep amber gold; heavenly aromas of apricot, honey, orange zest and a hint of saffron. Medium-full, this offer beautifully ripe fruit, a lush mid-palate, very good acidity, outstanding persistence and superb complexity; the finish is lightly sweet and never cloying. Another great Ben Rye, this is nectar of the gods. This should drink well for 12-15 years if stored well, perhaps longer. Superb!”

2011 Isole e Olena Vin Santo del Chianti Classico DOC
James Suckling, James Suckling, July 2024
“Amber color. Complex and evolved, with notes of apricot jam, celery, dried figs, candied orange zest, nail polish and a hint of rancio. Zesty and lifted acidity balances the dense sweetness, with a full body and a long, super-savory finish of dried apricots. Not an easy wine, strictly for connoisseurs, yet very good. Drinkable now, but it will last for decades.”

“A complex nose with delicate oxidative notes of tobacco and moss, dried herbs and then figs, dried apricot and marmalade. More dry than sweet on the palate, with a beautifully poised, long and agile progression and a succulent, raisiny finish with a savoury mineral freshness. Pure elegance. Deep, old sherry shade.”

2020 Donnafugata Tancredi Dolce&Gabbana
Danielle Callegari, Wine Enthusiast, September 2025
“The Tancredi blend is, like its namesake, both rich and beautiful, but also clever and unexpected, managing to respect what came before while testing new boundaries. It also has a vision for the future, and I expect it will become truly exceptional as it matures.”

Danielle Callegari, Wine Enthusiast, September 2025
“Passito di Pantelleria is like a birthday cake in a glass—joyful, sweet, nostalgic—and there's little question that Donnafugata's Ben Ryé is the benchmark in the category. An ideal way to experience the Zibibbo grape from this magical island.”

2011 Isole e Olena Vin Santo del Chianti Classico DOC
Danielle Callegari, Wine Enthusiast, December 2025
“This is a coppery, chocolate brown wine, with sophisticatedly sweet aromas of milk chocolate, apricots, candied orange peel, and tahini. The chocolate cascades over the palate, but more dried stone fruit and the simultaneously sweet and bitter tang of candied citrus guides you to a savory, nutty finish.”

2022 Isole e Olena Chardonnay Toscana IGT
Wilfred Wong, Wilfred Wong, May 2025
“I admit it, I rarely think of Tuscany as a place for my Chardonnay fix. The remarkable 2022 Isole e Olena Collezione Privata took me by surprise. At first sniff, I thought, Hmm, pretty interesting! As I continue to savor it, I realize how significant this experience was going to be. This wine slowly reveals aromatic spices, ripe peach skin, hints of stone fruits, and a hint of creaminess, making it perfect with oven-roasted, savory game hens.”

2022 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Asili
Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2025
“The 2022 Barbaresco Asili is gorgeous. Silky, aromatic and light on its feet, the 2022 is classic Asili all the way. Its translucent finesse and energy are remarkable. Today, the 2022 is a bit stern in terms of its tannins. While I don’t see the seductive fruit and inner perfume of Giacosa's best Asilis, the 2022 is still one of the finest wines to emerge from this cellar in years.”
