2020 Isole e Olena Syrah Toscana IGT

Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, May 2023

“Boasting a supple and velvety texture that softly caresses the palate, the 2020 Syrah Collezione Privata shows how well this Rhône grape has adapted to the sunny and dry Tuscan climate. I love that the wine shows aromas of crushed limestone that are fundamental to the Chianti Classico playlist along with black fruit, black chocolate and cured tobacco. This is a generous, full-bodied red wine that ends on a deliciously soft note.”

2021 Donnafugata Mille e una Notte

Eric Guido, Vinous, July 2025

“The 2021 Mille e Una Notte is dark and brooding, smoldering up with a beguiling bouquet of dusty sage and cedar shavings, enhanced by nuances of menthol and cocoa before giving way to blackcurrant. Savory to the core, it offers velvety textures lifted by brisk acidity as a mass of red fruit saturates the senses. The 2021 grips the palate with youthful tension and finishes with a wall of tannins nicely contrasted by a tinge of citrus and licorice. This powerful rendition of Mille e Una Notte will require extreme patience.”

2020 Donnafugata Tancredi Dolce&Gabbana

Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2024

“The 2020 Dolce & Gabbana Tancredi seduces with a burst of black currants, wild blueberries, oak spice, mentholated herbs and cloves. This is pure and elegant in style with underlying power in reserve. Masses of ripe red and black fruits saturate, leaving a mineral staining as fine-grained tannins penetrate toward the close. The 2020 cleans up beautifully through the finish, structured and classically dry with a tart blackberry crunch and hints of pepper that linger on. The Trancedi is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Nero d'Avola and Tannat that matured in 60% new French oak. Have patience with this understated beauty.”

2023 Donnafugata Ben Ryé

Eric Guido, Vinous, July 2025

“Exotic yet remarkably fresh, the 2023 Ben Ryé bursts from the glass with a seductive blend of white raisins, minty herbs, poached peaches and tropical citrus. It is weighty, rich and harmonious throughout, coming across as sweet but not cloyingly so. Ultra-ripe pit fruit combines with candied lemon and a crisp mineral tinge that adds form toward the close. Dramatically long, the 2023 leaves a resonance of sour melon and an air of confectionary spice while cleaning up well, leaving the palate completely refreshed.”

2020 Isole e Olena Syrah Toscana IGT

Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, May 2023

“Dark, almost impenetrable ruby. Refined, complex oak with sweet cherry notes underneath and a hint of morocco leather and black olive. Supple, juicy, dark, sweet fruit with clayey tannins. Very long, juicy and neat. ”

2021 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto

James Suckling, James Suckling, August 2024

“This is all about purity, with cherries, strawberries, spices, sandalwood, iodine, seashells and black truffles on the nose. Full-bodied but so balanced and focused, with layering and vertically that go on and on. The nebbiolo character is intense and gorgeous. Some pure fruit at the end, with notes of flint and gunpowder. Best after 2027, but it’s already a joy to taste.”

2020 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Asili Riserva

James Suckling, James Suckling, June 2023

“Gorgeous perfumes of flowers and dark fruit with orange peel. Full-bodied with plenty of fruit and firm and integrated tannins. Thick silky texture. Fresh in the finish. It goes on for minutes. Available in 2025. Best after 2029.”

2021 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto

Michaela Morris, Decanter, March 2025

“In the far southeast of Barolo, Giacosa’s 9ha monopoly shines in 2021. Made from vines with an average age of 35 years, Falletto flirts rather than flaunts. Red and black currants establish a backdrop from which iron, sage, bay leaf and liquorice root arise. Elegance, polish and precision are impeccably demonstrated, as is immense freshness, with racy acidity giving mouth cleansing vibrancy and energy. The tannins are fine-grained and silky, building up steadily in dignified strength around a core of pulverised stone. Pressed rose and lilac perfume the finish. 6,820 bottles and a few hundred magnums produced. The red label Riserva Vigne Le Rocche 2021 will be released in 2027.”

2021 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto

Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, September 2025

“Supple in texture and loaded with finesse, this Barolo exudes flavors of raspberry, cherry, rose, iron, tar and spices, with a hint of licorice. The dense, fine-grained tannins emerge as this winds down on the long, languid aftertaste. Vibrant and complex. Best from 2029 through 2050.”

2021 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto

Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, January 2025

“You feel the signature of an elegant vintage in the superbly direct and focused Bruno Giacosa 2021 Barolo Falletto. This beautiful wine offers bright berry fruit, blue flower and crushed stone. This is a complete wine, with aromatic intensity that is matched to the depth of mouthfeel and structure. We can expect a red label Barolo Riserva Falletto Vigna Le Rocche from the 2020 vintage to be released in 2026 and a 2021 edition to be released in 2027. That will certainly be something to look forward to. The Riserva was previously made in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017.”

2021 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Rabajà

Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, January 2025

“The Bruno Giacosa 2021 Barbaresco Rabajà comes in a bottle with a white label. Bruna Giacosa explains that although she came close to making a Riserva (or red label) in 2017, Rabajà is usually presented in a white label. Rabajà has more backbone and a greater sense of richness and density. The Asili site is characterized by sandy soils, resulting in elegant and finessed wines. Even though Asili is right next door to Rabajà, the soil composition is completely different. Here, you get darker fruit tones with a very pretty mineral or salty signature. This is a beautiful vintage, one that excels in focus and clarity of fruit. I really love this expression of Rabajà, but you are best off giving it more bottle time to evolve.”

2021 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto

Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2025

“A rich, explosive wine, the 2021 Barolo Falletto is heady from the first taste. Spice, menthol, licorice, camphor and dried herbs infuse the palate with captivating depth and nuance. This opens beautifully with time in the glass, showing all the power and regal intensity these wines were once known for. Best of all, the 2021 will drink well with minimal cellaring, as the tannins are already quite polished. Superb.”

2020 Isole e Olena Syrah Toscana IGT

Antonio Galloni, Vinous, June 2023

“The 2020 Syrah Collezione Privata is another breathtaking wine in this range from Isole e Olena. Savory and floral, the 2020 bristles with tension from start to finish. Inky blue/purplish fruit, lavender, mocha and dried herbs infuse the 2020 with tons of complexity and character. All the elements are impeccably balanced.”

2020 Isole e Olena Cabernet Sauvignon Toscana IGT

Antonio Galloni, Vinous, June 2024

“The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Collezione Privata is another stunning wine from the Paolo de Marchi era at Isole e Olena. It offers tons of varietal character, vertical structure and class to burn. It is also a very, very young wine to bury in the deepest corner of the cellar. Dark red-toned fruit, dried flowers, leather, menthol and rose petal all soar out of the glass. It's a reminder of how magical the 2020 harvest was here. Readers lucky enough to find it will be thrilled.”

2021 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto

Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck, May 2025

“The 2021 Barolo Falletto comes from the lower portion of the slope and was aged for 34 months in big barrels and then six months in bottle. In the glass, it pours a jeweled red hue with a bit more pigment than the Barbaresco and is spicy on the nose, with a compelling feel in its notes of spiced cherries, fresh herbs, smoky incense, and hints of fresh leather. The palate is medium-bodied, with lovely purity and clarity that was a consistent thread throughout all the wines at this tasting. It features ripe tannins with a noble yet elegant feel, as the fruit shines brightly and carries through to a long and even finish. As it opens, it showcases its more noble structure, along with the ability to age over the next two to three decades.”

2020 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Asili Riserva

Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck, May 2025

“The 2020 Barbaresco Riserva Asili was aged for 20 months in barrel followed by two years in bottle. In this vintage (as in 2021), the weather conditions and the maturity of the grapes were evident in the vineyard, indicating that they would produce the red label Riserva bottling this year. (In other vintages, that decision has been made in the cellar.) In the glass, the wine displays a medium red transparent hue and offers fantastic layers of incense, Asian spices, fresh currants, and raspberries. The palate is elegant and refined, with a long, graceful feel. It’s very long on the palate, with a balanced, fruity feel, and its perfume lasts on the finish, featuring notes of apricot perfume. It's gorgeous already, but I would stash this away and check back in a few years. It’s deceptively approachable now but has the structure to age over the coming decades. This vintage reminds Bruna Giacosa of 2000, a vintage marked with similar elegance.”

2020 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Rabajà

Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, December 2024

2020 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Asili Riserva

Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, January 2025

“Packaged with the red label, the Bruno Giacosa 2020 Barbaresco Riserva Asili was a little shy when I tasted it, but it clearly has the runway for long cellar aging. It opens to a medium-plus texture with a darker hue of ruby red. The tannins are elegant and fine, and although this was a warm vintage, the fruit feels very fresh and taut. You get good structure and firm tannins to carry it over the long term.”
