2016 Bruno Giacosa Roero Arneis

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, June 2017

“The 2016 Roero Arneis was bottled on Saint Valentine's Day and that's a fitting touch. Some 140,000 bottles were made, which is more than average. This is a fresh and buoyant wine that is loaded with tangy tropical fruit, pineapple and honeydew melon. The wine's intensity is exuberant, pronounced and refreshing. Dustings of fine mineral and salty limestone characteristics give the wine a brilliant sense of polish and crispness. Bruna Giacosa tells me the fruit harvested in 2016 was beautiful. She distinctly remembers the perfumes of the Arneis grapes as they came into the winery on the back of a truck during harvest. This is a beautiful white wine.”

2015 Bruno Giacosa Roero Arneis

Stephanie Johnson, Wine & Spirits, December 2016

“Lemony acidity lifts this wine’s honey and orchard fruit flavors and, along with the waxy texture, gives an impression that’s reminiscent of a Loire chenin. It feels poised and balanced, the pear and apple flavors remaining cool and fresh on the way to a long and elegant finish.”

2015 Bruno Giacosa Roero Arneis

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, June 2016

“The Bruno Giacosa 2015 Roero Arneis is a mineral-driven and beautifully fresh white wine that would taste great on a warm summer evening. The wine sports a luminous golden color that seems slightly more intense in this vintage. The bouquet offers citrus, peach, dried sage and crushed oyster shell. In the mouth, the wine is tangy and crisp.”

2016 Bruno Giacosa Dolcetto d'Alba Falletto

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, June 2017

“The 2016 Dolcetto d'Alba opens to a vinous and foxy nose of black cherry and raw fruit. The wine reveals a saturated ruby color with blackish coloring at the edges. This vintage delivers an extraordinary sense of varietal purity. Grapes used to make this wine were purchased from outside farmers located in the Neive township. I tasted this wine less than a week after it was bottled, but the underlying potential of the fruit is apparent.”

2012 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto Vigna Le Rocche Riserva

Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, January 2018

“Piercing scents of truffle, rose water, macerated cherry and medicinal herbs are the hallmarks of this elegant red. Less evolved and harmonious on the palate, with a core of sweet fruit and tightly wound, dense tannins. Stays fresh and long on the extended finish. Best from 2022 through 2043. 50 cases imported.”

2012 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto Vigna Le Rocche Riserva

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, June 2018

“The 2012 Barolo Riserva Falletto Vigna Le Rocche (red label) was bottled last September and has already eased into a comfortable and promising stage in its very early evolution. Bruna Giacosa tells me that this wine will be made in 2014 and 2016, so future supplies are plentiful. The jury is out on whether the wine will be produced in 2015, but Bruna tells me it is unlikely (albeit by no means confirmed at this point). Fruit selection was extreme in 2012. This is a warm vintage expression, and the wine is beautifully rich and velvety as a result. That textural richness is what stands out most. The primary fruit is bold and very well defined. There is a point of dark cherry ripeness, but it adds to the generous fiber and softness of the mouthfeel. Of the many beautiful vintages I have tasted of this wine, I suspect the 2012 might be faster in its evolution.”

2011 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto Vigna Le Rocche Riserva

Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, September 2017

“This alluring red starts out with soft rose, cherry, raspberry and menthol flavors, all harmonious, before picking up tar, tobacco and mineral elements, playing out on the long finish. This has mellowed somewhat, but the fruit never gives up, even as mouthcoating tannins emerge. Best from 2023 through 2040. 900 cases made.”

2011 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto Vigna Le Rocche Riserva

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, June 2017

“Here we have the venerated red label. The Bruno Giacosa 2011 Barolo Riserva Falletto Vigne Le Rocche commands attention and respect. The wine successfully, and somewhat magically, turns the tables on the overdone exuberance of the warm vintage and the natural heft that is inherent to Serralunga d'Alba. It does a great job of reining in all that power and transforming it into streamlined elegance instead. The wine opens to a dark and penetrating color and an immediately expressive bouquet. Thick layers of dark fruit, iron-rich earth, balsam herb, Darjeeling tea, dried ginger and cherry cola rise from the bouquet. The wine's Falletto signature is very strong. This is a Grande Vino with the proverbial capital G and capital V.”

2013 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto Vigna Le Rocche

Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, September 2017

“Cherry and strawberry fruit is supported by leather, licorice, mineral and tar flavors in this red, starting out detailed and elegant, turning firm and unyielding by the finish. Though assertive, the tannins stay within bounds, and this finds equilibrium in the end. Best from 2022 through 2045. 1,150 cases made”

2013 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto Vigna Le Rocche

James Suckling, James Suckling, July 2017

“This is incredibly powerful and structured with so much tannin backbone and ripe fruit. Aromas of plums and hazelnuts. Full-bodied and chewy. Fabulous finish. Needs three to four years to come together. Great wine. No Falleto was made in 2013. Only Le Rocche. Available in January 2017.”

2013 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto Vigna Le Rocche

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, June 2017

“The recent evolution of this wine is a bit confusing. After the 2009 Barolo le Rocche del Falletto was released, the wine was not made in 2010 or 2011. The following year, we got the 2012 Barolo Falletto that I scored last year. We now return to the series with the 2013 Barolo Falleto Vigna Le Rocche—which is, of course, the white label wine. The wine shows extremely elegant and fine characteristics with a dry and streamlined approach. Fruit tones on offer are delicate and nuanced. White truffle, balsam herb, violet and licorice are folded within. The wine was a little reticent when I tasted it and it definitely needs more time to flesh out in the bottle.”

2009 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto Vigna Le Rocche

Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, September 2013

“From one of Barolo’s iconic houses, this wine is more delicately structured and forward than usual but still bears Giacosa’s hallmark finesse and complexity. It has mesmerizing perfumes of rose, violet, cherry, strawberry and hints of cedar. The palate shows lively cherry, mineral and spice notes, and has a smooth, silky texture. Drink now or hold 10 years for more complexity.”

2009 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto Vigna Le Rocche

Joe D'Angelo, International Wine Report, June 2013

“The 2009 ‘Le Rocche del Falletto’ Barolo from Bruno Giacosa is a wine of pure elegance. It brings a wonderful, pure expression of Nebbiolo fruit, with aromas of candied strawberries, wild cherries, rose petals, sweet herbs and licorice notes. This is well structured around fine, silky tannins ending with incredible length. However, patience will be required here, as this will need time to develop further in bottle, but this has remarkable potential and a wine I would love to revisit in the future. (Best 2018-2029)”

2009 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto Vigna Le Rocche

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, June 2013

“The 2009 Barolo Le Rocche del Falletto comes from a south-facing parcel with steep slopes for well-draining soils. The vines are approximately 35 years old. There-s a touch of extra ripeness here, even a hint of strawberry, backed by rich berry fruit, cassis and blackberry. The wine shows its most elegant side in the mouth, where the firming, polished tannins give the wine backbone and grace. It-s deliciously silky and extra fine with microscopic precision. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2036.”

2016 Bruno Giacosa Barbera d'Alba Falletto

Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, November 2018

“The plum and blackberry fruit stains the palate in this meaty, spicy and intense red. The sheer size and density is offset by vivid acidity, which keeps this focused and long. Think grilled meat. Drink now through 2024. 150 cases imported.”
