2012 Nosotros Single Vineyard Nómade Malbec

Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, December 2016

“The 2012 Nosotros Single Vineyard Nomade Malbec is sourced from a different place each year, and in this occasion the grapes were selected from Vista Flores in the Valle de Uco, from the Finca Los Carolinos at 1,100 meters altitude. The destemmed grapes fermented in 6,500-liter oak vats with indigenous yeasts and had a post fermentative maceration of 45 days. This time the amount of new oak has been reduced to 80% from 100%, and the élevage time shortened to 16 months (from 18). The wine is still quite oaky after all this time. 2012 was a ripe vintage, and you notice it if you taste it next to more recent, cooler years. It provided the wine with a heady, ripe profile, but without much excess. The influence of the oak seems to be softer, it's spicy and smoky, but the fruit comes through more clearly, juicy and with elegant tannins, vibrant and elegant within the style. 14,000 bottles were filled in November 2013.”

2012 Nosotros Single Vineyard Nómade Malbec

Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, March 2016

“Bright, dark ruby. Superripe aromas of black raspberry and chocolate show some porty high tones. The wine's dark fruit flavors reveal a slightly raisiny quality but fresh acidity gives definition and lift to the middle palate. A bit disjointed today, in need of more time in bottle to harmonize. This hugely ripe, rather oaky wine finishes with big tannins and excellent dusty persistence. This is a popular style in the marketplace but today I prefer the 2013 Brioso for its definition and energy. Susana Balbo told me that she never picks overripe gapes for fear of losing acidity, but this wine is the closest of all these current releases to overripe.”

2017 Crios Cabernet Sauvignon

Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, July 2018

“There are slightly more spicy aromas in the 2017 Críos Cabernet Sauvignon, partly because of the varietal aromas and partly because some 40% of the wine matured in neutral, well-seasoned oak barrels for about nine months. They like stonier soils for Cabernet Sauvignon, and in the last few years, this has been produced with grapes from the Valle de Uco. They want to avoid green aromas and also the over-ripeness, and the stony soils are the best for that. 90,000 bottles produced.”

2017 Crios Cabernet Sauvignon

Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, August 2018

“Good medium red. A sexy note of musky, smoky reduction to the aromas of plum, currant, espresso and mocha, plus a whiff of candied flowers. Supple, nicely concentrated, inexpensive Cabernet with good herbal lift and bright acidity enlivening its varietally accurate currant, tobacco and spice flavors. In fact, this wine relies as much on its sound acidity as on its fine dusty tannins for structure. Distinctly riper than the 2016 version and an excellent value. Sappy and easy to drink.”

2016 BenMarco Cabernet Sauvignon

Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, July 2018

“As I see in many other wines, the 2016 BenMarco Cabernet Sauvignon is clearly subtler than the 2015, with more freshness. It is focused and has contained ripeness but is not lacking power. The vintage is very marked in the two BenMarco Cabernet Sauvignons I tasted together, this 2016 and the 2015. 42,000 bottles produced.”

2016 BenMarco Cabernet Sauvignon

Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, August 2018

“Bright, saturated ruby-red. Rather brooding, slightly inky aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, licorice and spices, plus a hint of bitter chocolate. At once fine-grained and vibrant, conveying the energy of this cool year without any overwhelming greenness. Distinctly blacker in its fruit character than the 2015 version, and more bound-up at the same stage, but this fine-grained Cabernet Sauvignon finishes with smooth tannins and good rising length. Not the last word in complexity, and certainly carrying an herbal aspect, but this mineral-tinged wine may yet gain with another year or two of bottle aging.”

2014 Donnafugata Tancredi

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, December 2018

The 2014 Tancredi is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Nero d'Avola. The wine is creamy and dense with excellent concentration and a smooth style that leaves an especially warm feeling in the mouth. Tancredi is one of those go-to wines when you want something good, but you don't want to think too hard. It offers happy, quality drinking. This is my favorite vintage of Tancredi to date.

2014 Donnafugata Mille e una Notte

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, December 2018

The 2014 Mille e Una Notte is mostly Nero d'Avola with some other red grapes in a supporting role. This was a terrific vintage in Sicily that did not see the below average temperatures and heavy rainfall that plagued the rest of mainland Italy. Instead, the growing season was characterized by balanced temperatures and steady sunshine. The fruit has matured beautifully here, showing blackberry, ripe cherry and plum. Tangy leather and spice add complexity to the wine. This is a full-bodied red with beautiful textual richness.

2006 Charles Heidsieck Millésimé Vintage Rosé

Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, June 2016

“Charles Heidsieck's 2006 Brut Rosé (with 10% Pinot Noir red wine) has been launched before the 2005. Disgorged at the end of 2014, the wine offers a delicate and intense wild strawberry flavor with some lovely spicy aromas on the nose. Ample, full and round, this is a lovely matured Rosé with a super intense and aromatic Pinot character (sweet cherries, red berries). The finish underlines the great complexity, purity and finesse of this vinous Rosé. There are cherry aromas again in the long aftertaste. An impressive Rosé.”

2006 Charles Heidsieck Millésimé Vintage Rosé

Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, September 2015

“This focused rosé Champagne offers a mousse with the texture of raw silk, which swathes the firm frame in layers of roasted hazelnut, baked peach, toasted brioche and crème de cassis flavors, with a rich and smoky underpinning and accents of candied kumquat, espresso, ground ginger and cumin that expand on the finish. Drink now through 2030.”

2006 Charles Heidsieck Millésimé Vintage Rosé

Nick Stock, James Suckling, July 2015

“A pale hue in the glass, this has a savory nose that delivers a very nicely struck toasty edge with chalky pastry and faint red fruits. The palate's sophisticated fine texture is mesmerizing. This really dances, leaving a trail of red berry fruits in its wake, through to a long, pure and fresh, spicy finish. Drink now.”

2005 Charles Heidsieck Millésimé Vintage Brut

Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, June 2016

“The 2005 Vintage Brut – a classic mix of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay – is a very ripe and concentrated Champagne with a bit of bitterness in the finish. 2005 was austere as a young wine, but since 2015, it shows very well and promises a very good aging potential, finds chef de cave Régis Camus. The wine opens deep, pure and fresh on the nose, with very clear white fruit aromas, spiced bread and a very clear definition. Light, fresh and finesse-full on the silky-textured palate, but also round and intense, this is a very elegant and refined vintage Champagne. It has a pure and fresh finish, and a long and intense aftertaste.”

2004 Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires

Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, October 2018

“A seamless Champagne, showing a texture of raw silk, this weaves vibrant acidity with an expressive range of glazed apple and poached white cherry fruit flavors, with pickled ginger and saffron spice details and rich notes of pastry cream, toast and coffee liqueur. More about finesse than power, this is long and creamy on the mineral-tinged finish. Drink now through 2028”

1995 Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires

Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, June 2016

“Deep, pure and fresh on the fruit-intense and complex nose, the 1995 Blanc des Millenaires is still young and incredibly fresh on the palate. This is refreshingly pure, concentrated, fruity and perfectly round Champagne that reveals a great tension and mineral complexity. It also has a long and salty finish. Keep it for ten or 20 years.”

2007 Bruno Giacosa Spumante Extra Brut

Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, December 2015

“Made entirely with Pinot Nero, this straw colored Metodo Classico opens with subdued aromas of nut and a whiff of bread crust. The palate is more expressive, offering white peach, citrus zest and pastry notes alongside a creamy mousse. An almond note closes the finish.”
