2006 Charles Heidsieck Millésimé Vintage Brut

William Kelley, Wine Advocate, April 2019

“The 2006 Brut Millésimé spent nine years on the lees and was disgorged in 2017 with ten grams per liter dosage. The wine expresses the sunny vintage, exhibiting generous aromas of mirabelle plum, crisp yellow orchard fruit, confit citrus, toasted nuts and dried white flowers. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and mouthfilling, with a youthfully boisterous but elegant mousse, a fleshy core of fruit and a rich, expansive finish. This is a gourmand vintage of Heidsieck's vintage Brut, and it will be best enjoyed at table; it will age more on its concentration and extract than its acidity. The blend is a classic 59% Pinot Noir and 41% Chardonnay.”

Charles Heidsieck Brut Réserve

Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, December 2020

“An extra touch of aging before disgorgement has given this Champagne a fine balance. Hints of toast as well as tight acidity have come from the equal blend of the three main grapes. The fruitiness is still very present, offering crisp citrus to balance the edge of maturity. Drink now.”

2004 Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires

Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, December 2020

“Cellar Selection. This is an iteration of a legendary Champagne. Perfectly balanced, still packed with white fruit but just touching nuttiness, the wine is at its peak. Celebrating one of the great Champagne vintages of this century, this wine is totally memorable and magnificent.”

2004 Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires

Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, December 2020

“A textbook blanc de blancs in a relatively opulent style, with ample grilled nut, brioche and spice character alongside classic flavors of poached apricot, kumquat, oyster shell and lemon blossom. This rich profile is well-defined by racy acidity, sleek and well-cut, driving the long, lacy finish. A beauty. Drink now through 2035. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 4,500 cases made, 185 cases imported.”

1995 Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires

William Kelley, Wine Advocate, August 2019

“Drunk from a bottle that was disgorged in 2016, the 1995 Blanc des Millenaires continues to show very well, wafting from the glass with a complex bouquet of waxy citrus rind, dried pear, walnut oil, warm bread and fresh pastry. On the palate, it's full-bodied, enveloping and chalky, with a rich and muscular core, lively acids and a long, precise finish. Impeccably balanced, this is a cuvée I have drunk on many occasions and which used to be well-represented in my own cellar, but this is as good a bottle as I have ever encountered. In the plenitude of full-maturity, now is a great time to pop corks.”

2004 Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires

William Kelley, Wine Advocate, April 2019

“Disgorged in November 2017 after 13 years on the lees, the stunning 2004 Blanc des Millénaires is a worthy successor to the 1995. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of green apple, pear, brioche and fresh pastry that are framed by a lovely smoky, autolytic top note, the wine is full-bodied, ample and concentrated, with ripe acids, superb depth at the core and a textural, vinous quality while remaining very classical in profile. The finish is long and expansive. A blend of Chardonnay from Cramant, Avize, Oger, Mesnil-sur-Oger and Vertus, it saw nine grams per liter dosage. This is a terrific blanc de blancs from Charles Heidsieck that has a long and glorious future ahead of it. Sadly, the price of this cuvée has finally caught up with the quality.”

Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Blancs

Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, December 2020

“Editor's Choice. Fruit from the Côte des Blancs weaves its usual magic of minerality and a tense texture. That combines with touch of toastiness, the ripe citrus fruits and the wine's great balance. This is a beautiful Champagne, ready to drink.”

2015 Dutton-Goldfield Cherry Ridge Vineyard Syrah

Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast, July 2019

“This is an impressive wine from a site just north of the Petaluma Gap in a relatively warm spot, just temperate enough to ripen the variety. It is rich and concentrated yet fully in balance, with persistent acidity that beautifully brightens the brooding black fruit, baking spice and white pepper flavors.”

2018 Luke Columbia Valley Syrah Reserve

Wine Enthusiast, December 2020

“Editors' Choice. Blackberry and other dark-fruit aromas meld with notes of smoked meat, coffee and mineral. The palate packs a big wallop of rich, layered black-fruit flavors, with plenty of tannic structure to provide support. It's a power-packed, hedonistic delight.”

2018 Luke Columbia Valley Syrah Reserve

Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, December 2020

“Deep ruby. Sexy, deep, varietally expressive aromas of blackberry, blueberry, mocha, cured meat, black olive, licorice pastille and violet. Densely packed, savory and alive; more concentrated, tactile and deep than the regular Syrah, showing a more three-dimensional texture and an element of mineral lift to its sweet dark berry, black olive and spice flavors. Finishes quite long, with lingering sweetness and big, broad, ripe tannins that saturate the palate without going dry. This is way beyond the entry-level Syrah in depth and dimension.”

“Black fruit, violets, smoke and dried herbs on the nose. Tar and charcoal, too. It’s full-bodied with firm, fine tannins. Concentrated and racy on the palate with a velvety texture. Spicy and flavorful finish. A blend of 97% syrah, 2% mourvedre and 1% grenache. Try from 2022, but already delicious.”

2017 Luke Columbia Valley Syrah

Wine Enthusiast, March 2020

“Appealing aromas of coffee, assorted dried herbs and whiffs of smoked meat are followed by a soft, sultry palate, full of plum flavors that glide on the finish. The tannins show a little tackiness at present, revealing the wine's youth. Give it a short decant to see it deliver.”
