2020 Donnafugata Lighea
Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, December 2021
“On of the rare dry wines made with native grape Zibibbo, this has exuberant aromas of white rose, yellow peach and intense citrus. The aromas follow through to the racy palate along with ripe apricot, grapefruit and hints of saline.”

2015 Donnafugata Mille e una Notte
Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, October 2019
“Donnafugata's showcase wine is the always delightful Mille e Una Notte, with 40,000 bottles released in this vintage. The 2015 Sicilia Mille e Una Notte is a beautifully saturated and dark wine, with an elegant full-bodied style and plenty of black fruit and plum that shines bright. The quality of those primary aromas is radiant and fresh. The wine shows its complexity in a second wave of spice, leather and black olive. The blend is mostly Nero d'Avola with Petit Verdot, Syrah and other grapes, and the wine rests in oak barrel for 14 months. This vintage is particularly rich, soft and exuberant.”

2014 Donnafugata Mille e una Notte
Ian D'Agata, Vinous, August 2019
“Fully saturated inky-ruby. Tar and licorice dominate the black cherry, plum and violet aromas on the deep, multifaceted nose. Then deep, dense and suave, with very ripe, almost liqueur-like red and black cherry, cassis, cocoa and sweet spice flavors. Finishes long with a hint of black pepper and a repeating nuance of violet. A big, strapping, brooding wine that needs time and that is in the style of the hot year. Not exactly my preferred style of Mille e Una Notte, but Port lovers and super ripe Napa Cab fans will love this.”

Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, April 2020
“Baking spice and leather notes accent the flavors of baked black currant, herbed olive and fig cake in this balanced, medium- to full-bodied red, framed by creamy tannins. Supple finish. Nero d'Avola, Petit Verdot and Syrah. Drink now through 2025. 3,300 cases made, 330 cases imported.”

2017 Donnafugata Sedàra
Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, October 2019
“This is a Sicilian blend that is mostly Nero d'Avola enhanced with smaller parts Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The entry-level Sicilia Sedàra clearly shows a more international personality with the noticeable softness of the Merlot and Syrah as well as some of the natural structure of the Cabernet Sauvignon. No oak is used. The wine's inner fiber is succulent and soft. Pair this versatile wine with your favorite grilled meats. Some 300,000 bottles were produced.”

“Made primarily with Nero d'Avola along with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and other varieties, this has aromas of toasted nut, grilled herb, eucalyptus and blue flower. On the bright, savory palate, pulverized tannins accompany dried black cherry, prune and hints of baking spices.”

2017 Donnafugata Sedàra
Ian D'Agata, Vinous, August 2019
“Deep red. Ripe aromas of red cherry and Oriental spices. Then fresh and juicy, but with a luscious quality to the super-ripe red and black cherry flavors that turn more austere in the middle. Finishes long and suave. This smells and tastes a lot like the 2018 Sherazade, only made from riper grapes. A blend of Nero d’Avola mostly, plus Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.”

2018 Donnafugata Sherazade
Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, October 2019
“The entry-level 2018 Sicilia Nero d'Avola Sherazade offers a great first taste of this mighty Sicilian grape, especially for those who might not be familiar with it. The wine opens to a bright, mid-weight appearance and shows lots of black cherry and pistachio aromas with some black olive at the back. No oak is used, and the quality of fruit in this cooler vintage is almost spicy in taste. Some 200,000 bottles were made.”

2017 Donnafugata Sherazade
Monica Larner, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, December 2018
“The 2017 Sicilia Nero d'Avola Sherazade accomplishes two missions. First, the wine shows pure and sharp varietal tones of black fruit, olive and toasted spice. Second, this edition faithfully presents a hot vintage personality with soft concentration and abundant fruit at the core. This is an easy-drinking, mid-weight red that ends with rich flavors of sweet cherry and dried blackberry.”

“A nero d’avola with a light, fresh edge, revealing sour cherries and raspberry cheesecake with a touch of citrus. Very taut and edgy, almost tart, on the palate, but there’s undeniable transparency and depth. Medium-bodied and medium-chewy. Drink now.”
