2012 Piper-Heidsieck Vintage Brut

William Kelley, Wine Advocate, August 2019

“Unfurling in the glass with incipiently complex aromas of citrus oil, wheat toast, fresh peach and crisp orchard fruit, the newly released 2012 Vintage Brut is full-bodied, deep and tightly wound, with excellent concentration, racy acids and a fine mousse, concluding with a long and penetrating finish. Even though it's still a little reserved after its recent disgorgement,”

Piper-Heidsieck Cuvée Sublime

William Kelley, Wine Advocate, August 2019

“A very creditable contribution to what has become an unfashionable genre is Piper-Heidsieck's NV Demi-Sec Cuvée Sublime, a lovely wine that wafts from the glass with aromas of honeyed peaches, fresh pastry, nectarine and caramelized citrus. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with good depth at the core, racy acids and a fine mousse, concluding with a precise finish that avoids any suggestion of cloying sweetness despite its off-dry style. Expect it to sing with additional bottle age.”

Jeb Dunnuck, April 2019

“The 2017 Tête De Belier shows the changing style at this estate and offers a more Northern Rhône vibe in its green olive, bacon fat, smoked herbs, and meaty black fruits. Based on 70% Syrah, 20% Grenache, and the rest Mourvèdre and Carignan, aged in barrel, it’s medium to full-bodied, has a concentrated yet focused texture, and a great finish. It’s going to benefit from a year or two of bottle age.”

2019 Puech-Haut Tête de Belier Rosé

Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, June 2020

“Almost entirely Mourvèdre (the appellation requires the wine to be a blend), the 2019 Languedoc Tête de Bélier Rosé features strawberry-like aromas alongside hints of crushed stone, tropical fruit (guava?) and fresh citrus. It's on the full-bodied side of things for a rosé, yet it doesn't come across as being heavy or overly rich, just concentrated, with a long, silky finish.”

Jeb Dunnuck, August 2020

“Based on 40% Viognier and 30% each of Marsanne and Roussanne that was fermented and aged in barrel, the 2018 Tete De Belier Blanc offers a rich yet pure and vibrant bouquet of apricots, white flowers, honeysuckle, brioche, and caramelized pineapple. It's beautifully done, medium to full-bodied, has both richness and freshness, and a great finish. It's a brilliant white that reminds me slightly of a Condrieu from the likes of Andre Perret. Drink it over the coming year or three.”

2018 Puech-Haut Prestige Rouge

Jeb Dunnuck, August 2020

“Based on Syrah and Grenache brought up mostly in concrete tanks, the 2018 Languedoc Prestige comes from older vines and limestone soils not far from the Pic Saint Loup appellation in the Languedoc. Incredibly consistent, it sports a deep purple hue as well as a ripe, sexy bouquet of both red and black fruits intermixed with lots of spice, chocolate, and earthy, peppery nuances. Beautifully textured, medium to full-bodied, with a pure, velvety mouthfeel and a great finish, it's going to evolve for a solid 3-5 years, possibly even a decade, although there's no need to delay gratification, as it's beautiful today.”

2018 Puech-Haut Prestige Rouge

Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, June 2020

“The mainly tank-aged 2018 Languedoc Prestige is a blend of Syrah and Grenache. Possessing more depth and structure than the Argali bottling, it offers scents of cherries and blackberries on the nose, followed by flavors of dark fruit and chocolate and a medium to full-bodied palate lined with silky tannins. There's just enough grip to support 3-4 years of aging.”
