2019 Donnafugata Tancredi Dolce&Gabbana

Eric Guido, Vinous, September 2023

“The 2019 Tancredi Dolce & Gabbana is dark and intense, with an air of smoky crushed rocks and savory herbs that gives way to black currant and balsamic spice. Silky yet racy in style, this impresses further with depths of mineral-tinged red and black fruits that saturate. A web of fine-grained tannins mounts toward the close. It finishes dramatically long, structured and potent, with graphite nuances and a mentholated herbal freshness that helps to lift the experience. The Tancredi is going to need time, and a lot of it, yet it will be time well spent. It's a radiant beauty. This is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Nero d’Avola and Tannat.”

Piper-Heidsieck Essentiel

Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate, April 2023

“The Piper-Heidsieck’s NV Extra-Brut Essentiel is a blend of 45% Pinot Noir, 36% Pinot Meunier and 19% Chardonnay (including 23% of reserve wines) and was disgorged in 2022 with a dosage of six grams per liter. It reveals aromas of orchard fruit, pear, peach, lemon oil and warm biscuits. The palate is medium to full-bodied, tense and pure, with a delicate mousse and a fresh, harmonious texture with a clean and precise finish. It's a well-crafted and classic Champagne. Drinking window: 2023-2028”

2020 Isole e Olena 'Cepparello' Toscana IGT

Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, May 2023

“Dark ruby. Enticing, lifted, rich cherry laced with the perfect dose of oak. Polished, full, concentrated and supple on the palate; suave and long, with finely ground tannins woven into the succulent fruit. Quite rich and full-bodied on the finish and clearly a very ambitious wine, but could do with a little more of Sangiovese’s bite. That may come with more age.”

Charles Heidsieck Champagne Charlie

Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, December 2023

““The return with a new iteration of this iconic Champagne, first produced in the 1980s, and named after Charles Heidsieck, one of the great Champagne promoters of the 19th century, is to be welcomed. The wine itself lives up to the bill-ing of its history, rich in the house style and with just a hint of maturity. This great wine, still full of white fruits, has so many years ahead. The wine is likely to mature gently for a decade at least. Folio Fine Wine Partners. Cellar Selection.””

2020 Nosotros Single Vineyard Nómade Malbec

James Suckling, James Suckling, February 2023

“Susana Balbo and her team chose Gualtallary for the Nosotros bottling in this warm vintage. There is huge breadth of complexity to the nose with graphite and tarry black and blue fruit. Dark minerals and a hint of cocoa powder and cigar box. Full-bodied and juicy on the palate with lots of broad-shouldered, fine-grained tannins. Intense, concentrated and incredibly persistent. Minerals in the end. Drinkable now, but better from 2026”

2017 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto Vigna Le Rocche Riserva

Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator, November 2023

“This supple red is elegant and powerful, driven by an underlying mineral element. Strawberry, cherry, rose, iron and wild thyme aromas and flavors persist, building to a long aftertaste, while dense, refined tannins lend support. Offers superb balance and length. Best from 2025 through 2045. 110 cases imported.”

2014 Rare Millésimé Rosé

Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, November 2023

“Bursts with vibrant energy as soon as this hits the palate, yet is refined and elegant throughout -- akin to a prima ballerina's marriage of stored power and grace. Reveals a lovely range of strawberry coulis, blood orange granita, raw almond, honeycomb, smoke and chalk notes framed by chiseled acidity and carried on the vivacious, finely detailed mousse. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Drink now through 2038. 50 cases imported.”

2020 Isole e Olena 'Cepparello' Toscana IGT

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, May 2023

“Supple and smooth, the 2020 Cepparello brings Sangiovese to soaring heights in a manner only Paolo De Marchi can manage. This is his second to last vintage before he would retire and sell this historic estate. The wine opens to medium to full-bodied concentration with dark plum and redcurrant. Those cede to sweet spice, earth, crushed stone, rusty nail and candied orange peel. Give the wine more time to flesh out with cellar age. It registers a powerful 15% alcohol content.”

2020 Ricasoli Roncicone Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, September 2023

“This is the wine that blew me away last year (when I tasted the excellent 2019 vintage) and assured me of the innovative work now underway at Barone Ricasoli. Today, tasting the 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Brolio Roncicone, I am reminded of the quality fruit obtained from this special 10-hectare site with marine fossils mixed within its sandy topsoil. Showing brilliant clarity and focus, this carefully oak-aged Sangiovese offers rose, dried cherry, campfire ash and delicate mineral tones. This wine paints a beautiful portrait of this grape. Production is 10,000 bottles.”

2013 Rare Millésimé Brut

Claire Nesbitt, James Suckling, April 2023

“Such a pleasingly elegant and multifaceted Champagne with salty, creamy and toasty elements all wound together. Plenty of apricot pastries, pears, brown butter, fennel and salted almonds, with some iodine. It’s silky on the palate, with soft and supple bubbles, while remaining fresh and on edge. 70% chardonnay and 30% pinot noir, from 11 cru villages mostly in Montagne de Reims with Côtes de Blancs. Disgorged December 2022. 9 g/L dosage. Drink or hold. - Claire Nesbitt.”

Reveals vibrant, well-integrated acidity, which keeps this rich version trim and focused and drives the long, fine-textured finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Disgorged 2021. Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Blancs

Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, December 2023

2020 Ricasoli Colledilà Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, September 2023

“Of these releases from 2020, I feel that the Barone Ricasoli 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Colledilà is the most sensitive to the warm growing season. You sense more fruit ripeness in this wine with savory spice, leather and toasted espresso bean. There is plenty of plum and purple fruit that is framed by crushed stone and campfire ash. Although the bouquet is not quite as brilliant as the 2019 vintage, this expression from 2020 does indeed offer pretty, balanced freshness in terms of mouthfeel. The vineyards see limestone alberese soils, and the wine ages in 500-liter barrel for 22 months (with only 30% new oak). Production is 14,000 bottles.”

2020 Ricasoli CeniPrimo Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, September 2023

“The Barone Ricasoli 2020 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Brolio CeniPrimo opens to a medium-dark saturated appearance and a slightly more concentrated feel that translates into aromas of cherry liqueur, blackberry, spice and sweet earth. This wine carries a little more fruit weight and textural richness thanks to lower-elevation vineyards and silty riverbed soils. However, this wine also offers a spot of vibrant freshness on the close, and that makes a big difference in a warm vintage like this. It remains meticulously balanced throughout. Production is 11,000 bottles.”
