2022 M. Chapoutier Les Granilites Rouge

Stuart Pigott, James Suckling, May 2024

““If you want to know what Northern Rhone syrah is all about, here is the best introduction to the dark and smoky personality of these wines and their fantastic wild blackberry fruit. Exciting mineral tannins and acidity on the tightly focused, stony palate. So energetic and cool for the hot and dry vintage. Very long, pure finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.””

2021 M. Chapoutier Chante-Alouette Blanc

Stuart Pigott, James Suckling, May 2024

“At first this is a bit closed, but with some aeration in the glass the ripe peach and Mirabelle plums from the beautifully ripe marsanne emerge. Excellent concentration and a wonderful vitality in spite of the moderate acidity. Then comes the saline minerality, which is married to a touch of bitter almonds in the long, structured finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.”

2021 M. Chapoutier Croix de Bois

Jeb Dunnuck, Jeb Dunnuck, October 2023

“Slightly deeper hued, the 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape Croix De Bois sees a touch more stems (25%) and is brought up in concrete as well. It has a more floral, vibrant style compared to the Barbe Rac, with Bing cherries, forest floor, violets, and peppery herbs, as well as a Grand Cru Burgundy-like sense of elegance and refinement on the palate. Medium to full-bodied and balanced, with fine tannins and a gorgeous finish, it ranks with the gems in the vintage.”

2019 M. Chapoutier Le Clos Rouge

James Suckling, James Suckling, February 2022

“Slightly wild in the nose, but in a very exciting way, this is a deep and complex St.-Joseph. Powerful and meaty with a serious tannin structure that will enable it to age for many years. Forest-floor character emerges as it aerates. Very concentrated and firm finish. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drinkable now, but best from 2025.”

2019 M. Chapoutier Croix de Bois

James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, January 2022

“Rumbles with dark currant and cherry fruit steeped with licorice root, bay leaf and chestnut accents, this also has a solid strip of dark earth and warm paving stone running underneath. Exudes both a perfumy edge and an old-school feel. One for the cellar. Best from 2024 through 2034. 10 cases imported.”

2022 M. Chapoutier Les Granilites Rouge

Kristen Bieler, Wine Spectator, September 2025

“Broad-shouldered and gutsy, with serious mineral depth girding core of dried plum and kirsch cast in iron. Tannins have shed their burliness, moving into a gentle hold. Tobacco leaf, forest floor and salted licorice add savory dimension with dusting of mocha on the full finish, where sandalwood smoke lingers. Drink now through 2035.”

2022 M. Chapoutier Les Granilites Blanc

Kristen Bieler, Wine Spectator, September 2025

“Very pretty fragrant, floral and smoky white, with honeysuckle blossom and citrus peel overlaying creamed apple and melon on a mouth coating frame. Details of spice, white mocha and ginger add depth to the polished palate, with a honeyed edge to the salty, mineral-rich and long finish. Kiss of pie crust. Super tasty. Drink now through 2028.”

2023 Colomé Estate Malbec

Tim Atkin, Tim Atkin, June 2025

“Colomé’s Malbec uses fruit from four different estates - Colomé, El Arenal, La Brava and Altura Máxima, this has the garrigue notes of thyme and rosemary that are a feature of many northern Argentinian reds. Aged in 10% new oak, it’s a lovely wine at the price, with perfume to spare, some underlying grip and backbone and joyful bramble, plum and blueberry fruit. 2026-32”

2023 Tiraki Pinot Noir

Vinepair, June 2025

“Marlborough is primarily known for its tart and tropical Sauvignon Blanc, but this beloved New Zealand region also grows some great Pinot Noir. This bottle from Tiraki pops with bright cherry and raspberry notes. There are also subtle hints of cocoa and spices from 12 months aging in French oak. The palate has a juicy fruit core framed by drying tannins and present acidity.”

2022 M. Chapoutier Les Greffieux

Yohan Castaing, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, March 2025

“Wild dark berries, dark cherries, spices, rose and lilac mingled with lovely peppery notes introduce the 2022 Ermitage Les Greffieux, a dense and concentrated, full-bodied and structured wine with a fleshy core of fruit, a harmonious, balanced palate and a long, mineral and peppery finish, despite a slightly green touch. Matured 80% in large barrels, 25% of which are new, this is somber yet balanced Hermitage.”

2022 M. Chapoutier L’Ermite Rouge

Yohan Castaing, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, March 2025

“Like much wine from Chapoutier this year, the 2022 Ermitage l'Ermite is brooding, slowly unfurling with notes of licorice, violet, bacon and smoke mingled with carnal/animal-like notes. Medium to full-bodied, rich and dense, it's concentrated with a structured, grippy tannic frame complemented with a muscular mid-palate and a firm, licorice and carnal-inflected finish. Despite being somewhat dry and rustic, the telluric power of the terroir allows this wine to remain approachable and distinctive, giving it a balance and control that might elude other wines under similar conditions.”

2023 Laurenz V. Singing Grüner Veltliner

Kyle Swartz, Beverage Dynamics, February 2025

“Grüner veltliner is one of the lesser-known but best food-pairing wine varieties available. A lovely pale gold, with greenish hints in the glass, the nose and palate demonstrate plenty of bright clean tree fruit, with a hint of spice. The wine finishes with balanced fruit and acidity. ($18)”

2018 Piper-Heidsieck Vintage Brut

Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, December 2024

“This is young for a Vintage Champagne release. That means a citrus aroma and bright fruit flavors are prominent. It balances with the toasty, nutty character in a wine that could age further. Drink from 2026.”

2018 Piper-Heidsieck Vintage Brut

Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, September 2024

“A pure beam of crème de cassis rides the creamy mousse of this expressive Champagne, which is rich and toasty but well-defined and balanced by vibrant, lemony acidity. Flavors of poached apricot, spun honey, anise and ginger join the cassis note and linger through the lasting finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Drink now through 2035.”
