2017 Susana Balbo Signature Brioso
October 2020
“This single vineyard blend of 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Malbec, 22% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot spent 15 months in 100% new French oak. With a heady nose of grilled meat, cassis and beet root, the juicy plushness on the palate is mesmerizing. Generous boysenberry, black cherry is guided by creamy milk chocolate. Tannins are upright and teeth coating, with blue floral notes. Distinguished!”

2017 Susana Balbo Signature Brioso
Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, September 2019
“Bright ruby-red. Very pure aromas of blackcurrant, licorice, flowers, herbs and menthol; showing its oak and its Cabernet Sauvignon side today. Intense dark berry, licorice, dark chocolate and dried fig flavors show an element of medicinal minty reserve, with a touch of Cabernet Franc greenness contributing lift. Finishes with smooth, horizontal but firm tannins and terrific grip. Displaying no easy sweetness today, this very promising blend has the structure to evolve gracefully. (aged for 14 months in new barriques)”

“Extremely transparent and bright with complex aromas of dark berries, cedar and flowers that follow through to a full yet tight and composed palate with complex flavors and a long and clear finish. Hints of fresh herbs at the end. Blend of cabernet sauvignon, malbec, cabernet franc and a dash of petit verdot. Some whole cluster fermentation. Drink now.”

2017 Nosotros Single Vineyard Nómade Malbec
James Suckling, James Suckling, April 2021
“Black plums, blueberries, dried herbs, cedar, vanilla and crushed stones on the nose. It’s medium-to full-bodied with ultra fine tannins and bright acidity. There’s vivacity and wild energy to this, with layers of bitter chocolate and berries interwoven with stones and minerals. So energetic and very driven with gorgeously integrated tannins. So long, too. Drink or hold.”

Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, March 2021
“The 2017 Nosotros Single Vineyard Nómade Malbec was produced with grapes from a vineyard in Agrelo, a classical zone of Mendoza. It fermented with indigenous yeasts in a 6,500-liter oak vat and matured in French barriques (80% of them new) for 16 months. It's a traditional wine and subtly oaked with sweet spice aromas and fine-grained tannins. Very showy. 10,000 bottles were filled in September 2018.”

2019 Crios Torrontés
Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, October 2019
“The just-bottled 2019 Críos Torrontés felt a bit reductive and with the influence of the sulfur in the bottling. But underneath, there are notes of white peach and some citrus, and of course, the orange blossom and Moscatel pulp sensations. It has a combination of the Salta wilderness and the cooler side from the Valle de Uco, as it's a blend from both places. 324,000 bottles produced.”

2018 Crios Torrontés
Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, September 2019
“Very pale, bright silver. Very subtle, fresh scents of lime blossom and orange peel. This inexpensive Torrontés stands out for its inner-mouth tension, dryness and salty minerality, partly due to the strong calcaire influence of some fruit from vines in Altamira (about 50% of the blend). Notes of citrus peel, menthol and licorice carry well on the finish. Susana Balbo told me that she likes the greenness, orange peel and flowers added by Torrontés grown in Mendoza, which she describes as more elegant than the Cafayate version.”

2019 Crios Torrontés
Vinous, June 2020
“A blend of Torrontés from the Uco Valley and Cafayate. A metallic green in color, the 2019 Torrontés Crios has a nose of fresh orange blossom and citrus with lime and grass. Moderately fatty and flavorful in the mouth, it delivers well-judged acidity. This is a sensibly-priced wine with personality and a refreshing feel.”
