2020 Château Beaulieu Cuvée Alexandre

Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, July 2021

“The 2020 Coteaux d'Aix en Provence Rose Cuvée Alexandre includes an appreciable Cabernet Sauvignon component (27%), while the majority of the blend is Grenache (52%) and the balance is Cinsault (21%). It's still a pale-hued rosé but includes some leafy overtones to the redcurrant, melon and citrus fruit and an undercurrent of crushed stone. It's medium-bodied on the palate, crisp and refreshing, with a long, mouthwatering finish.”

Charles Heidsieck Champagne Charlie

James Suckling, James Suckling, November 2022

“Attractive green gold color with a solid bead. It shows lots of buttered brioche and cooked apples with some underlying white pepper. Some grapefruit. Full-bodied but not heavy, with a solid core of fruit and lots of apple pie and lime flavors. Lively acidity at the end, phenolic and structured. I like the bitter lemon and pie crust. A blend of 48% pinot noir and 52% chardonnay. This will age nicely. Drink or hold.”

Charles Heidsieck Champagne Charlie

Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck, November 2022

“The NV Champagne Charlie (2017) is the first release since the 1985 “vintage.” The new rendition embraces the long-held emphasis for this cuvée on reserve wine (despite having previously been labelled as a vintage wine) and now represents 80% of the blend, with only 20% from the base vintage of 2016, the oldest of the reserve wines going back to 1998. The wine is fantastically detailed and unfolds with layers of delicate smoky perfume, peach, and citrus blossoms. A refined and delicate mousse wraps around a core of orchard fruits, quince, and chalk. There is impeccable detail with this edition that will continue to improve over the coming decades. Drink 2024-2044.”

Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck, November 2022

“The 2008 Champagne Millésime Rose is 63% Pinot Noir, with 9% of that being still red wine and the rest Chardonnay. Notably, for this vintage they have lowered the dosage levels from years past. It is fresh with rose petal, rhubarb, sweet herbs, and apricot. The palate is structured with tart cherry, raspberry, nectarine, and salty earth as well as an attractive stony texture.”

Charles Heidsieck Rosé Réserve

Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck, November 2022

“The NV Reserve Brut Rose is perfumed and floral with notes of crushed rose petal, tangerine, and peach. The palate is dry, with a spine of acidity, a structured core, and chalky earth. Its perfume gives way to its driving orange peel citrus and wild strawberry fruit. It has enough structure that I would be happy to have this on my holiday table. Drink 2022-2030.”
