Mathilde Chapoutier Selection Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire AURISSO

Provence

Tasting Notes

Rich, long and velvety on the palate, combined with notes and flavors of summer berries, minerality and freshness, providing an ethereal touch. A wine exhibiting very fine character, a crisp and flavorful finish.

A great match with shellfish, king shrimp a la plancha, tartar with parmesan crisps, strawberries with basil and a dash of lime juice, or enjoy on it’s own!

The 2022 vintage in Provence was marked by the absence of the seasons, with average temperatures of 11°C / 51.8°F, sunny days and little rainfall. Pruning occurred late compared to the previous vintage yet was not impacted by the spring frosts. A cold spell gave way to a mild and dry spring, allowing the vines to develop quickly and in good conditions.Flowering was healthy with advanced phenological stages due to the dry winter. This, combined with the heat of summer, lead to early veraison followed by an early harvest. A short rainfall in August replenished the soils and set the grapes up for successful maturation on vine.

Crafting the best Rosé requires great care and timeliness. To ensure maximum freshness and vibrancy, harvesting is carried out at night and quickly brought into the cellar, where grapes undergo a short, cold maceration on the skin, followed by direct pressing and a cool vinification in stainless steel tanks to preserve aromatics.

"Limpid pink. Intense strawberry, redcurrant and blood orange scents are complemented by dusty minerals, succulent herb and floral accents. Taut and energetic on the palate, offering fresh red berry, citrus pitch and lavender flavors that are braced by a spine of juicy acidity. Finishes very long and floral, with resonating mineral and floral notes."

"Editor's Choice. The wine is young and has an herbal hint. But its rich future is assured. It has intensity, spice and a tight, tangy character. With its richness, this is a complex wine that will be ready in late 2022. "

"On another level, the 2020 Côtes De Provence Sainte Victoire Grand Ferrage Rosé reveals a more salmon hue as well as a mineral-laced vibe in its orange blossom and tangerine-like fruits. Focused, vibrant, and chiseled on the palate, it’s one heck of a classy rosé. As with the other rosé here, drink up."
