"An elegant, glossy style, with a lighter, less-extracted profile to its red currant, dried strawberry and bright cherry notes, underscored by warm soil, soy sauce and garrigue, plus warm spice and pepper details. Streams through with fresh, deftly polished tannins and chalky mineral elements lining the long, complex finish. Beguiling, perfumed and complex. Drink now through 2038."

"Hard to get past the wide-screen bouquet with its aromas of pomegranate, candied oranges and fresh herbs. Rich and concentrated, showing supersilky fine tannins that mask the power of this full-bodied and deeply structured wine. Extremely long, refined finish. From a slope in the extreme east of Chateauneuf with very water-retentive soil that makes dry farming no problem. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold"

"Slightly deeper hued, the 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape Croix De Bois sees a touch more stems (25%) and is brought up in concrete as well. It has a more floral, vibrant style compared to the Barbe Rac, with Bing cherries, forest floor, violets, and peppery herbs, as well as a Grand Cru Burgundy-like sense of elegance and refinement on the palate. Medium to full-bodied and balanced, with fine tannins and a gorgeous finish, it ranks with the gems in the vintage."

"An elegant and crafty Chateauneuf-du-Pape made entirely from grenache. It delivers notes of red cherries, dark cherries, flowers and sweet spices. It’s medium-bodied with sinewy tannins and freshness all along. It’s crisp and bright despite the structure, with a crunchy edge and a focused, restrained finish with excellent length. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink or hold."

"All Grenache from a classic clay-and-galets site on the eastern side of the appellation, Chapoutier's 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Croix de Bois is a bigger, more rugged expression of Grenache than the more elegant Barbe Rac. Bold black cherry and licorice notes lead the way in this full-bodied, rich, velvety wine that should drink well for at least a decade"

"Rumbles with dark currant and cherry fruit steeped with licorice root, bay leaf and chestnut accents, this also has a solid strip of dark earth and warm paving stone running underneath. Exudes both a perfumy edge and an old-school feel. One for the cellar. Best from 2024 through 2034. 10 cases imported."
