"Blending 85% Malbec, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Tannat, all grown above 5,900 feet-elevation, the 2022 Malbec Gran Corte Barrel Selection is floral, well-integrated, and brimming in beautifully ripe red fruit. Overdelivering mightily on its price point, it's a delicious, full-bodied wine with complex layers of well-hewn tannin and nicely spiced oak, having spent 12 months in both French and American barrels. Drink now through 2034."

"Jorge Noguera uses raw material from Amalaya’s Finca San Isidro to make this assemblage of Malbec, 9% Cabernet Franc and 6% Tannat. Fresh, yet concentrated, it has top notes of lavender and wild herbs, flavours of tapenade and bramble, svelte tannins and well-judged French and 5% American oak. 2025-30."

"The 2022 Gran Corte, a blend of 85% Malbec, 9% Cabernet Franc and 6% Tannat from Calchaquí Valley, matured for 12 months in used oak barrels. It boasts a purple hue and offers aromas of plum and white pepper, layered with chutney/oak notes. Indulgent, bold and juicy, its fine, reactive tannins create a compact, moderately rough palate. This is a flavorful high-altitude red."

"The 2021 Amalaya Gran Corte is a blend of 85% Malbec, 9% Cabernet Franc and 6% Tannat from the Calchaqui Valley and was aged for 12 months in used American and French barrels. Dark purple in hue. The nose presents notes of vanilla and mocha initially followed by hints of syrup, red fruit jam and spicy chutney. Broad with fairly insistent tannins, the alcoholic energy is well-compensated for by the acidity."

"2020 was quite different in the north than in Mendoza, as in Salta it was a rainier year. The harmonious and elegant 2020 Gran Corte shows very well, with nuance and subtleness, serious, with moderate ripeness. It's a blend of Malbec with 9% Cabernet Franc and 6% Tannat that feels very integrated and complementing each other. It matured in neutral, well-seasoned oak barrels for 12 months. A bargain. 100,000 bottles."

"I’ve long been a fan of this Gran Corte, produced from a blend of Malbec with 9% Cabernet Franc and 6% Tannat. Matured in older French and American wood, it’s a poised, nuanced cuvée, showing stony minerality, liquorice, plum and blueberry fruit and a freshness that’s sometimes lacking in wines from northern Argentina. 2023-28"

The intense nose offers notes of blackberry chutney, syrup and hints of spice with a balsamic backdrop. Juicy with a terse texture, the tannins bring depth without interfering with the nimble flow or dark fruit flavors."

The wine comes through as serious and balanced, rich and ripe but without excess and with some tannins that would welcome some more time in bottle and/or food. 78,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2020."

"A blend of Malbec with 9% Cabernet Franc and 6% Tannat, 100% of which spent time in French and American oak. A good example of a high-altitude wine. The nose conveys dark fruit and jam, prunes, blackberry, country herbs and red bell pepper plus hints of pyrazine. Indulgent at first, with a firm structure lent shape, volume and smooth texture by the good amount of oak. A satisfying northern wine."

Aged in older French and American barrels, it has bags of colour, plum and blueberry fruit, serious tannins, fresh acidity and some sweet oak spices. Especially commendable given the volumes involved. 2021-26"
