2024 Tiraki Pinot Noir

James Suckling, James Suckling, October 2025

“Precise, vivid and chiseled, this shows red cherries, smoke and hints of gunpowder on the nose, following through to a medium body with fine tannins. Well-made and textural with bright fruit in the lively finish. Sustainable. Drink or hold. Screw cap.”

2014 Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires

Decanter, June 2024

“97 points. The 2014 vintage was a mixed one in Champagne – a cool, wet July lingered into an indifferent August – and some parts of the region (notably the Marne Valley) struggled as they coped with twice the normal rainfall total. It soon became apparent, though, that the Côtes des Blancs was a winner zone in 2014, and time has only amplified the merits of this coolish but ultra-classical year for Blanc de Blancs from well-sited vineyards. Here’s a great example. Pale and fine-beaded, with a sumptuous aroma of cream, flowers, nuts and quiet orchard fruits – though it’s stealthy as yet, and further cellar time will certainly amplify the charm. On the palate, the wine is crystalline in terms of its focus and balance, while the flavours evoke the plant world – pressed spring leaf and sweet angelica – as much as fruit. The structure is impressive for a Blanc de Blancs, too. Stylish and assured Champagne.”

2020 M. Chapoutier L’Ermite Rouge

Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, May 2024

“Compelling scents of roasted meat, espresso and blueberries roar from the glass, joined by a hint of vanilla on the nose of the 2020 Ermitage l'Ermite. A huge behemoth of a wine in the mouth, it's nevertheless an elegant beast that should easily be tamed by a few years in the cellar. Fans of all-out power might prefer this to the Le Pavillon in 2020, but for me, it's a just a neck behind, nipped at the wire.”

2021 M. Chapoutier L’Ermite Blanc

Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, May 2024

“The 2021 Ermitage l'Ermite Blanc was tasted one month prior to bottling, hence the parenthetical rating. Scents of crushed stone accent notes of apricot, pineapple and lime on the nose, while the palate is medium to full-bodied. In the mouth, this is straight, almost severe; it tells you when to jump and how high, with zesty, briny notes lingering long on the finish”

2019 M. Chapoutier Le Méal Rouge

Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, January 2022

“Chapoutier's 2019 Ermitage le Méal is a standout. Crushed stone and pencil shavings accent blackberry and blueberry aromas, while the full-bodied palate is richly tannic and concentrated, showing plenty of structure to balance the ripe fruit. It almost oozes across the palate, with savory hints of mocha and black olive lingering on the finish.”

2022 M. Chapoutier Le Clos Rouge

Jeb Dunnuck, Jeb Dunnuck, May 2025

“The 2022 Saint Joseph Le Clos is much more inward and structured, with a terrific sense of reduction in its red and black fruits, smoked meats, game, black pepper, and gunpowder-like aromatics. These carry to a medium to full-bodied Saint Joseph that's flawlessly balanced, has a layered, elegant mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. Drink 2025-2040.”

2012 Rare Millésimé Rosé

Jeb Dunnuck, Jeb Dunnuck, November 2022

“The 2012 Champagne Rare Rosé is a shimmering salmon hue and is elegant and restrained at the moment. It has a floral perfume of hibiscus, orange blossoms, white peach, and smoky incense. The palate is energetic and has more tension, with a fantastic chalky texture. It opens up with orchard fruits and honeycomb, and its floral notes linger long after the finish. Though it is a little shy now, this is an exciting release from the team at Piper-Heidsieck. Drink 2024-2044.”

2019 M. Chapoutier Le Méal Blanc

Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, January 2022

“The 2019 Ermitage le Méal Blanc was initially tasted and reviewed last year. While I retasted it, my impressions were essentially the same as last time (reproduced here for the sake of completeness): The 2019 Ermitage le Méal Blanc boasts remarkable complexity, ranging from hints of pencil shavings and crushed stones to a range of ripe, honeyed fruit (pear, melon, citrus) and then into slightly spicy-herbal, salty elements that bring celery seed and fennel to mind. It's medium to full-bodied, broad and mouth coating on the palate, yet retains a terrific sense of freshness that revolves around gentle citrus pith/zest and salted licorice on the lingering finish.”

2021 M. Chapoutier L’Ermite Blanc

Jeb Dunnuck, Jeb Dunnuck, December 2022

“Not yet bottled (this cuvée always sees a slightly longer élevage), the 2021 Ermitage L'Ermite Blanc comes from a mix of limestone and granite soils and is still resting in 25% new demi-muids. If there's a white of the vintage, this might be it. Honeyed lemons, quince, mango, and a liqueur of rocks-like minerality all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, deep, concentrated, and pure, with an undeniable salinity on the finish. As usual, this tight, focused, and backward Hermitage needs at least 3-4 years of bottle age.”

2020 M. Chapoutier L’Ermite Rouge

Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, January 2022

“The 2020 Ermitage l'Ermite is a letdown only in the context of the incomparably magnificent 2019 version. The pure cassis fruit comes across as almost a bit one-dimensional, but that one fruit dimension is so broad and deep as to make any objections mere quibbles. Full-bodied and tannic, marked by a granite-rooted sense of austerity, the wine finishes silky, long and vibrant—another tour de force from one of Hermitage's most privileged sites.”
