CHEF DE CAVE CYRIL BRUN NAMED BEST SPARKLING WINEMAKER OF THE YEAR 2019 AT THE PRESTIGIOUS INTERNATIONAL WINE CHALLENGE UK

Reims, July 12th 2019 – On July 9th 2019, in London, at the occasion of the 36th instance of the International Wine Challenge Awards, Cyril Brun, Chef de Cave since 2015, was named Best Sparkling Winemaker of the Year.

EXTRAORDINARY TALENTS & SUSTAINED EXCELLENCE REWARDED

The House is proud to see that honors continue to grace Charles Heidsieck champagnes. Since the creation of the International Wine Challenge (IWC) Award 25 years ago, Charles Heidsieck’s successive Chef de Caves have been awarded Sparkling Winemaker of the year 13 times, in recognition of their talent and dedication:

  • 6 times for Daniel Thibault from 1994 to 2002
  • 5 times for Regis Camus on behalf of Charles Heidsieck from 2004 to 2010
  • 1 time for Thierry Roset in 2014
  • 1 time (to date) for Cyril Brun.

This prestigious title comes as an addition to many other Medals and Trophies granted to the range. Back in 2015, the House also received the prestigious Lens Evans Trophy in Australia, recognizing its focus on excellence and consistency over the last 5 years.

BLANC DE BLANCS, CHAMPION IN ITS CATEGORY

In total, the Charles Heidsieck was awarded one Trophy, four Gold, and two Silver medals. The newcomers to the range, the Blanc de Blancs non-vintage, honored the “wines of Charles” being awarded the Non-Vintage Blanc de Blancs Champagne Trophy, with a score of 96/100.
