Maison Champy Pernand-Vergelesses
AOC Pernand-Vergelesses, Burgundy
Crystal clear and pale golden color with hints of silver, this Chardonnay has excellent aromatics of white flower, citrus, and wild mint with a hint of mineral. Frank, fresh, and elegant on the palate, it is harmonious and rich, with a long and persistent finish.
Fermented and aged for 10 months in 30% new barrels.
Established in the Middle Ages, north of the Beaune coast, this vineyard is very hilly and covers the slopes of Aloxe-Corton and Savigny-lès-Beaune. It is the diversity of the terroir which gives each blend a strong identity. In this region, the surface area under vine for white wines is approximately 130 acres and includes seven Premiers Crus - Caradeux, Sous Frétille, Clos Berthet, Clos du Village, Quarters, Morand, and Pernand Village. Maison Champy owns just over twp of these acres.
