Maison Champy Corton Le Rognet Grand Cru
AOC Corton Grand Cru, Burgundy
Beautiful deep ruby color with garnet reflections. On the nose, concentrated notes of dark cherries with a hint of smoke and black pepper. Fresh yet opulent, the body is full with well-rounded tannins and a lengthy finish.
Cold maceration. Fermentation using natural yeasts in vat taking place over 3 weeks. Aging in barrels (30% new) for 14 months.
At the North of the Côte de Beaune, the Mountain of Corton brings together the villages of Aloxe-Corton, Pernand-Vergelesses, and Ladoix-Serrigny. The vineyard ranges between 820 to 1,000 feet above sea level and forms an amphitheater unlike any other example in the Côte. This vineyard plot, or climat, with its own distinct terroir bears name, Corton Grand Cru, and shares the mountain alongside other distinctive climats.
