2016 Donnafugata Mille e una Notte

Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator, January 2021

“An elegant red, aromatic and enticing on the nose, with bay leaf and cured tobacco notes accenting the rich range of baked plum and black cherry fruit on the palate. It's medium- to full-bodied and well-knit, with creamy tannins on the supple, mineral-laced finish. Lovely. Nero d'Avola, Petit Verdot and Syrah. Drink now through 2030. 350 cases imported.”

2017 Donnafugata Sedàra

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, October 2019

“This is a Sicilian blend that is mostly Nero d'Avola enhanced with smaller parts Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The entry-level Sicilia Sedàra clearly shows a more international personality with the noticeable softness of the Merlot and Syrah as well as some of the natural structure of the Cabernet Sauvignon. No oak is used. The wine's inner fiber is succulent and soft. Pair this versatile wine with your favorite grilled meats. Some 300,000 bottles were produced.”

2016 Donnafugata Sedàra

Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, December 2018

“The entry-level 2016 Sicilia Sedàra presents the Nero d'Avola grape in a simple and straightforward manner. You will recognize varietal tones of black cherry, scorched earth and toasted pistachio. This warm vintage sports mild sweetness and rich fruit fiber. This is a mid-weight red wine for near-term consumption.”

2018 Donnafugata Sedàra

Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast, February 2021

“Made primarily with Nero d'Avola along with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and other varieties, this has aromas of toasted nut, grilled herb, eucalyptus and blue flower. On the bright, savory palate, pulverized tannins accompany dried black cherry, prune and hints of baking spices.”

2017 Donnafugata Sedàra

Ian D'Agata, Vinous, August 2019

“Deep red. Ripe aromas of red cherry and Oriental spices. Then fresh and juicy, but with a luscious quality to the super-ripe red and black cherry flavors that turn more austere in the middle. Finishes long and suave. This smells and tastes a lot like the 2018 Sherazade, only made from riper grapes. A blend of Nero d’Avola mostly, plus Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.”

2016 Donnafugata Sedàra

Ian D'Agata, Vinous, August 2019

“Luminous dark ruby. Flinty small dark berries, licorice and minerals on the nose and in the mouth. Clean and fresh, with a steely spine; finishes long, clean and vibrant, with a mineral bent. I like this.”
