MasiThe Boscaini family, led by President Sandro Boscaini, has owned and operated the Masi Company for six generations. The history of Masi is the history of the vineyards around Verona, in the Venetian area. In the late 18th century, the Boscaini family purchased a little valley called “Vaio dei Masi,” of which the family retains ownership to this day. Since then, the Masi Company has grown step by step through to the descendents of the poet successive, carefully considered purchases in the best viticultural areas of the Veneto |

region. Masi is also involved in the management of the most historic estate in Valpolicella, Serego Alighieri, which belongs Dante, since 1353. More recently, Masi developed the Tupungato project in Argentina and, in collaboration with Serego Alighieri, the Poggio del Bell’Ovile wine in Tuscany. Masi produces premium wines only—modern in style but deeply rooted in tradition. The grapes are indigenous varieties of the region—and are vinified using traditional systems such “appassimento” (drying of the grapes) and double fermentation. Masi specializes in the production of Amarones and Reciotos, using the historic technique of appassimento. They are the leading premium Amarone producer, with five (5) Amarones, accounting for 20% of the total production in the Veneto. Masi has also rediscovered and refined the technique of double fermentation using semi-dried grapes. The results are designed to emphasize the personality of each single product while maintaining a recognizable Venetian style. The Masi wines are made by a team of winemaking professionals known as the “Masi Technical Group” (MTG), led by Mr. Boscaini’s son, Raffaele Boscaini. The team has been involved in ongoing research with the goal of restoring the viticultural and enological heritage of Venetian premium wines. These members are experts in the fields of viticulture, enology, commercial markets, research, and experimentation. Thanks to the Masi Technical Group, the winery is known for producing well-balanced wines that are modern and, yet maintain a personality that is distinctly Venetian. |
