Isabel Mondavi Wines

"Elegant food friendly wines made for Isabel by her son, Rob Mondavi, Jr."

Isabel Mondavi Wines are a family venture of Isabel, Michael, Rob and Dina Mondavi.  The project started the way a lot of boutique wines do, with just a few cases made for friends and family.  It wasn’t long, however, before word spread and the demand grew to make these wines available to wine lovers everywhere.

The winemaking is done by Isabel’s son, 4th generation winemaker, Rob Mondavi Jr.  With Isabel’s favorite varietals and wine styles in mind, Rob crafts elegant wines with a refined, lower alcohol, food-friendly approach.  As Michael is fond of saying, “Our wine is made in a style that invites you back for a second glass.”

The Deep Rose is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley.  Its distinctive color is the result of at least four days of skin contact, allowing the wine to pick up beautiful fruit flavors and captivating strawberry aromas.  The Deep Rose is an ideal complement to a wide variety of cuisines or just relaxing with it on a warm summer day.

The Chardonnay is from the cool, Southside of Carneros.  Unique to many other Chardonnays, the Isabel Mondavi Chardonnay undergoes a simultaneous primary and malolactic fermentation which helps preserve the delicate aromatics and adds a layer of complexity to the finished wine.

The Pinot Noir hails from the Willamette Valley, a cool climate area in Oregon known for expressive Burgundian style wines.  With Isabel’s relatives living in Oregon causing a natural draw to the area, Rob plays the role of “flying winemaker” and frequently travels north to check the harvest and oversea production.  The grapes are harvested from two prized vineyard sites – one farmed sustainably and LIVE certified, the other farmed Biodynamically and Demeter certifed.

Isabel and her daughter, Dina, work together on the award winning packaging and the bottles are equally at home on fine restaurant table linen, or on a soft blanket at a summer picnic.  The label on the Deep Rosé is a reproduction of a painting by artist Marilyn Sommer that has been a longtime favorite of Isabel’s. The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir bottles feature a close-up photo of a bracelet that has been in Isabel’s family for generations.
