  • Wine Advocate reviews Vall Llach in the 2008 Spain Report:
-2003 Mas de l'Abundancia Cuvee Helena del Rio (93 pts) There were only 100 cases produced of the 2003 Cuvee Helena del Rio, a blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Garnacha, and 20% Carinena aged for 14 months in new French oak before bottling without filtration. Dark ruby in color, it delivers an alluring nose of slate, scorched earth, wood smoke, black cherry, blueberry, and black currant preserves. Layered, ripe, and full-bodied on the palate, the wine has exceptional depth and length while revealing no ill effects of the unusually hot growing season. With enough flesh to be enjoyed now, it will also have a considerable drinking window of at least 10-12 years.
-2004 Mas de l'Abundancia (92 pts) The 2004 Mas de l’Abundancia is composed of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Garnacha, and 25% Carinena (the latter two varieties from vines over 80 years of age) and aged for 13 months in 40% new French oak. Deep purple in color, it offers up a classy bouquet of wood smoke, mineral, scorched earth, black raspberry, and black currant. This leads to a full-bodied wine with a plush texture, layers of spicy black fruits, licorice, soft tannins, and exceptional depth and length. It will evolve for several more years in the bottle and drink well through 2020. (March 2008)
  • The 2003 Fluminis was the single wine selected by the D.O. Montsant in 2006 to represent the region in international tastings. (July 2007)
  • The 2003 Mas de l’Abundància is Eric Asimov's favorite of all the Monsant reds in this New York Times article (July 11, 2007)
