"I was also very impressed by the 2018 Críos Cabernet Sauvignon, which was also very expressive and with tons of peppery spices, perfumed and with a floral touch. It has classical Cabernet tannins, a velvety mouthfeel and is precise, pure and long. 90,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2019."

"Bright red-ruby. Fresh scents of black cherry, dark berries and flowers. Pure, lively dark fruit and bitter chocolate flavors are accented by violet, herbs and black pepper. Not a fleshy or sweet style but energetic and nicely balanced, displaying noteworthy definition and floral lift for its gentle price. Susana Balbo has recently made major purchases of land in Gualtallary (these vines are now 12 years old) and this bottling has become more savory and light on its feet as a result. As was the case with the 2017 a year ago, this Cabernet relies more on its acidity than on its light dusting of tannins for structure."

"Good medium red. A sexy note of musky, smoky reduction to the aromas of plum, currant, espresso and mocha, plus a whiff of candied flowers. Supple, nicely concentrated, inexpensive Cabernet with good herbal lift and bright acidity enlivening its varietally accurate currant, tobacco and spice flavors. In fact, this wine relies as much on its sound acidity as on its fine dusty tannins for structure. Distinctly riper than the 2016 version and an excellent value. Sappy and easy to drink."

    Wine Advocate, July 2018

"There are slightly more spicy aromas in the 2017 Críos Cabernet Sauvignon, partly because of the varietal aromas and partly because some 40% of the wine matured in neutral, well-seasoned oak barrels for about nine months. They like stonier soils for Cabernet Sauvignon, and in the last few years, this has been produced with grapes from the Valle de Uco. They want to avoid green aromas and also the over-ripeness, and the stony soils are the best for that. 90,000 bottles produced."
