A Family Tradition

Founded by the Michael Mondavi family in 2004, Folio Fine Wine Partners has quickly become one of the most respected wine purveyors in the U.S. and throughout the world. Michael, his wife Isabel, son Rob, and daughter Dina all play valuable roles in the company.

The Mondavi name brings a rich and compelling history. Michael Mondavi’s grandfather, Cesare, was elected to find grapes and wine making supplies for families to make wine legally during Prohibition.  His search was successful and, in 1919, he brought his family to Lodi, California and began the Mondavi’s foray into California winemaking.

Cesare’s son, Robert, joined the family wine business while in high school. In 1966, Robert and his eldest son, Michael, founded the Robert Mondavi Winery, establishing themselves as innovators in winemaking, and accomplishing their goal of bringing California wines the world recognition they deserved.  Michael made the wines for the first 8 harvests at Robert Mondavi Winery and then later took the helm of Sales and Marketing.  Known as global emissaries of California wine, Robert and Michael have dedicated their lives to creating a fine wine culture in America. The Robert Mondavi Winery went public in 1994, and Michael served as President, CEO and Chairman until he left in 2004 to establish Folio Fine Wine Partners.

Folio acts as an agency for family wineries around the globe, bringing special wines to the attention of wholesale distributors who place the brands with retailers and restaurateurs.  The Mondavi family still has its hands in the soils and in the winery.  Rob crafts and oversees the wines and winegrowing for Folio and Dina ensures that we make the Folio Winemakers Studio experience memorable for our guests.  The Mondavi tradition continues to the next generation.
