Business Manager, Western Region, and Partner
I grew up in Chicago as one of six kids (3 brothers and 2 sisters). I started in the wine business at the beginning of my professional career. As early as high school, I worked in restaurants as a busboy and then while attending Indiana University's School of Business; I financed my education 100% by working nights and weekends as a server/bartender and running the kitchen at my fraternity, Kappa Sigma. After graduation in 1986 with a double major in Finance and Marketing, my first job was running the wine department for Marshall Field's in Chicago. As a means of becoming more proficient in wine and wine education, I attended Chicago Wine School in the evenings. After a brief hiatus, I returned to the wine industry in 1994 to become one of the founding members of a specialized wine sales force, Chicago Wine Merchants, within a large distributor, Union Beverage Company. I worked my way up from Sales Representative, to District Manager, to Wine Manager, and finally to General Manager during my tenure at Chicago Wine Merchants 1994-1999. I then relocated to Northern California in 1999 and became the Northwest Regional Manager for The Hess Collection Winery. After several years, I was promoted to Western Divisional Manager overseeing 26 states, and 7 regional sales managers. In January 2007, I was hired by Grgich Hills Estate as National Sales Director overseeing all aspects of GHE sales in North America. I joined Folio Fine Wine Partners in December 2009 and oversee all of California's business.
When not working, I enjoy cooking, golf, running, reading, and spending time at home with my wife Catherine, experiencing San Francisco.
