Isabel Mondavi Wines is a family venture of Isabel, Michael, Rob and Dina Mondavi. The project started with just a few cases made for friends and family. It wasn't long, however, before word spread and the demand grew to make these wines available to wine lovers everywhere. With Isabel's favorite varietals and wine styles in mind, Rob crafts elegant wines with a refined, lower alcohol, food-friendly approach.
The Chardonnay is from the cool, south end of Carneros. Unique from many other Chardonnays, the Isabel Mondavi Chardonnay undergoes simultaneous primary and secondary (malolactic) fermentation, which helps preserve the delicate aromatics and adds a layer of complexity to the finished wine.
Made from fully mature Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon fruit, the Deep Rosé hails from a complex blend of our prized Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in Atlas Peak, Rutherford and Howell Mountain. After careful hand sorting, de-stemming and gentle crushing, the juice cold soaks on the skins for four to five days where it picks up the deep color and rich flavors that have become the hallmark of our Deep Rosé.
Our 2009 Pinot Noir is the first vintage from our Carneros estate and we love the complex expression of Pinot Noir that this vineyard produces. This Pinot Noir benefits from cooler temperatures in Carneros, where summer fog and cool breezes from San Pablo Bay slowly ripen the fruit to optimum maturity and flavor.
Isabel and Dina work together on our award-winning packaging, and we think our bottles are equally at home on fine restaurant table linen, or on a soft blanket at a summer picnic. The label on the Deep Rosé is a reproduction of a painting by artist Marilyn Sommer that has been a longtime favorite of Isabel's. The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir bottles feature a close-up photo of a bracelet that has been in Isabel's
family for generations.
