Marchesi de Frescobaldi Registers Increase in Global Sales
New York, May 1, 2013 - With a turnover of $108 million in 2012, Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi, the legendary 700-year old Tuscan winery, registered a 3% increase in business performance worldwide. Export sales showed a very positive trend in both traditional markets, such as the US, Canada and Germany, and countries where wine consumption is quickly growing including Russia, China and Japan.

The United States represents 14.7% of the entire Frescobaldi business, and remains the number one export market. Domestically, the Italian market dropped 5.1% compared to 2011, a clear sign of the tough economic times Italy is facing.

"Export markets are critical for our business, especially at a time when Italy's internal wine consumption is consistently decreasing," said Giovanni Geddes Filicaja, CEO of Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi. "Investment in the latest innovations and new technologies is proving to be a successful strategy in this time of economic recession. In 2012 we invested over $13 million to modernize our vineyards and production facilities."
