The spring of 2008 will be remembered as the most rainy in the last 10 years, with average temperatures well below normal. Nevertheless, the intense luminosity and warm temperatures in July and August allowed for a partial recuperation from the late onset of the vegetative period. The summer months, September included, were hot and sunny, and because there were no problems related to lack of rain favoured an excellent rate of maturity for all grape varieties, Sangiovese most of all. The mild, sunny climate continued during the course of the various harvest phases, and the absence of significant precipitation permitted a regularity to the cellar work.
GRAPE VARIETIES: 100% Sangiovese
Ruby red colour. Intense and elegant bouquet with mellow scents of berry fruits like blueberry, joined by floral notes of violet. A lovely spiciness follows with black pepper and star anise, balsamic notes as eucalyptus and mineral notes of flint. The palate reveals a notably substantial body accompanied by a long and harmonious aromatic persistence and a fine and elegant tannin texture.
